Inspiration #43

Happy Friday! It’s time to look at some awesome modern wooden gate options to go in the horizontal fence that we talked about last week. This week we’ll focus on the side gate that happens between the houses – let’s go!

This is the latest in a weekly post of residential architecture inspiration. If you want to see past weeks, you can go here. If you want to see them curated on my pinterest (sometimes before they even hit the blog), go here.

I’m re-using the deck planks for the horizontal wood fence, which means I have to plan for a wider horizontal plank. I love the clean lines on this modern wooden gate. It’s a rare occasion that someone needs to access my side gate without me being home, so hidden gate hardware might be doable. They did a good job lining up side and door planks, which would otherwise be an OCD nightmare.

What a beautiful modern wooden gate with varied width boards. This is overkill for my scenario because of the front-facing lock and doorbell, but the rest of the details are fantastic.

This modern wooden gate is to die for: hidden hardware, offset pivot, clean lines. So gorgeous. It’s also made of much thicker wood than I’ll be using, but someone….go forth and make this beauty!

This modern wooden gate is more along the size of the wood I’ll be re-using, and well done for a DIY. The only thing that drives my OCD brain nuts (which you can’t see in this pic) is that the door sits higher than the fence by a good 2″ or so – eek!

Yes, please! This modern wooden gate checks all the boxes. Weathered/patina material. Offset pivot. Hidden hardware. Plenty of walkway space. Yes, yes, yes, yes.

Last but not least, this modern wooden gate has minimal trim but doesn’t hide itself from the surrounding house. The gate at #L2HQ will be sitting between the neighbor’s forest green siding and my new dark grey, so seeing this beauty sit in its natural splendor is really helpful.
