Inspiration #45

Happy Friday! The rain has not let up in my neck of the woods, so I’m cheering myself up by looking at bathroom ideas. As I mentioned in the latest blog, the projects are shifting from the exterior to the master bathroom/en suite. Nothing like a little bit of shower tile inspiration to cheer a lady up!

This is the latest in a weekly post of residential architecture inspiration. If you want to see past weeks, you can go here. If you want to see them curated on my pinterest (sometimes before they even hit the blog), go here.

Studio Maclean starts off the group today with some colorful herringbone subway shower tile. I don’t know about you, but I think it would be invigorating to take a shower and look at this tile each morning…as long as you had a REALLY good tile installer. As much as I love the pop, I do get concerned that this will be a trend that doesn’t last. I do love the details at the alcove, though.

Here’s a more contemporary charmer by The Ranch Mine. My shower and tub won’t be this close, but I love how the shower tile envelopes the room as a larger wet space. The alignment of the herringbone (again) tile and window frame is a pretty solid design move, too.

Hello, noir! While I think I’d prefer the lightness of white open spaces for my morning shower, this moody black double shower uses large format shower tile to make the color the focus. I’m surprised they didn’t use a charcoal grout, but to each their own.

There’s something about scallop shell shower tile that always makes me think of the sea and immediately smell a beach breeze and this shower design by Petrina Turner does not disappoint. I love the dark grout and hardware choice – it really makes the shapes pop. I definitely would be a happy girl to wake up to this every day.

This marble shower tile says GLAM, and I kinda like it. I think it’s too glossy and glam for me, and drives me a bit batty that it’s on the ceiling, but to each their own. I spy more cool alcoves with Aesop bathing goodies, too.

Marble again, but this muted matte shower tile takes the cake this week, I think. The large format tile appears to be almost dry stacked (which I know it isn’t) and the intensely narrow grout joints help the tile blend together. There are a couple things I’d change, like lowering the alcove head to match the top joint of tile below it, but this is a pretty great little shower. The seat seems cozy, but I sure hope it’s warm!
