Inspiration #47

In the search for tapware for the master bathroom renovation at #L2HQ, I considered black shower hardware. I knew it would blend well with the floor tile and pop against the shower wall tile I had chosen and was looking forward to a matte finish that I didn’t have to worry about keeping polished. And thus began the research process…company after company, rep after rep. It was an unfortunate experience of an unwinning game of telephone. So…the #L2HQ master bathroom won’t have black hardware, but I thought I’d share some of the images that helped me envision that option. I don’t doubt there will be fewer issues as it grows in popularity, so if you want it and have the lead time – go for it!

This is the latest in a weekly post of residential architecture inspiration. If you want to see past weeks, you can go here. If you want to see them curated on my pinterest (sometimes before they even hit the blog), go here.

Arent & Pyke designed a stunningly bright bathroom with simple black shower hardware that stands out against the white tile walls. While #L2HQ won’t have the color, the detail of the shower valve at the outset of the shower made it into the design. Here’s to no cold water mornings when turning on the shower!

Architect Prineas designed a similarly minimal black shower hardware against white tile bathroom. The simple black shelves with Aesop soap are just an added design touch that makes me go all heart-eyes.

I love the continuation of the theme from Joanna Laajisto. Black shower hardware, black towel rods, black tub tapware. They all sit peacefully in this calm, white bathroom.

This black shower hardware selection from Mim Design works in concert with the rest of the bathroom. The natural, curved tile makes my eyes feel a little odd, but I love everything else about this bathroom design.

What I wouldn’t give for a skylight in the bathroom to offset a great design with black shower hardware. Chan Architecture created a simple, elegant statement with this design, letting the geometries speak for themselves. And, wouldn’t you know, another shower layout with the valve outside of the water stream. 😉

This bathroom by Archifeto is the simplest of the bunch, but don’t discount the ability for black shower hardware to make a statement. Sometimes the simple, solid movements of a bathroom design are stronger than overwhelming materials options and finishes.
