Inspiration #48

Welcome back! The master bathroom at #L2HQ is done but the inspiration continues on. One of the things I looked at out of necessity – but ended up being able to design around – was a glass divider. Depending on the layout of a bathroom, a shower spray can reach farther than is acceptable, or able to be sloped. This is when a glass divider comes in handy to keep the water in its place while keeping the room open and spacious. Let’s take a look at some examples to see what I mean!

This is the latest in a weekly post of residential architecture inspiration. If you want to see past weeks, you can go here. If you want to see them curated on my pinterest (sometimes before they even hit the blog), go here.

This beautiful, open bathroom continues to share light thanks to the glass divider that separates the walk-in shower from the rest of the space.  A single slope trench drain keeps the floor design simple and allows the eye to float effortlessly, just like I would every morning into this shower.

This walk-in shower from Horton & Co shares the wet space with the tub, but the glass divider keeps the towels and sink space beyond dry and ready for the rest of the day’s prep. My guess is that towel bar also has a heating element, which makes me very jealous.

This shower takes a different approach, sitting the glass divider on top of a raised curb to separate wet from dry. I’m not a fan of one sink being covered and the other showing its wares, but I do love the cove light at the back of the shower.

Atelier Data created a beautiful rooftop apartment in Lisbon, complete with an all-white walk-in shower with a glass divider. A minimalist’s dreams come true.

Another beautiful and simple bathroom, with what appears to be gorgeous large-format tile is kept open and simple by a glass divider at the end of the double vanity. This could easily be an oasis in the mornings, but it does make my eye twitch a bit that the vanity tapware doesn’t match the shower tapware.

I’ve shown her work before, but Sally Rhys-Jones once again creates a simple, minimal stunner with this bathroom. The glass divider allows a small footprint bathroom to stay open and continue to share the warm, Australian sunlight.
