Inspiration #61: Lake Cabin

Welcome to a special edition of the inspiration post, Wanderlust Wednesday! With so many of us still working from home and sheltering in place, I don’t know about you, but I’ve got the wanderlust itch. This week it’s cabin fever – somewhere warm, on the water, secluded…a lake cabin it is! So take a minute with me and daydream about traveling somewhere relaxing.

This is the latest in a weekly post of residential architecture inspiration. If you want to see past weeks, you can go here. If you want to see them curated on my pinterest (sometimes before they even hit the blog), go here.

Candles, boats, fire, benches and comfy seats – what’s not to love about this lake cabin? There’s enough outdoor space to host friends or spread out and relax – and that’s my kind of retreat.

How about a lake cabin with water at your doorstep? You can sit deckside/dockside with your feet in the water, go for a canoe trip, or relax as the sun sets under cover of your porch. Sounds heavenly to me.

This cabin has an open shed that’s waterside for eas of access to freshen up a drink or stage a meal. I could imagine many afternoons on this deck, listening to the water, reading a good book.

This perfect little lake cabin literally opens itself up to the surrounding nature. You can sit in the Adirondacks along the water, or post up with friends and family around the campfire, while the fresh lake breezes filter through the home.

This last lake cabin looks more like a year-round house – and who wouldn’t want that view every day?!? Afternoons on this deck with unobstructed views of nature? Yes please.
