Inspiration #62: Indoor/Outdoor Kitchen
It’s Friday – AND it’s a long weekend! The weather in the midwest is warming up, but also threatening storms, so I’m dreaming of somehow bringing the outside in – and thinking about holiday food led me to the indoor/outdoor kitchen setups that are becoming popular. For a very brief period of time, I considered doing something like this at #L2HQ, and then I realized the local historic preservation commission would never allow it. Whomp whomp. So instead I will live vicariously through these great designs!
This is the latest in a weekly post of residential architecture inspiration. If you want to see past weeks, you can go here. If you want to see them curated on my pinterest (sometimes before they even hit the blog), go here.
This indoor/outdoor kitchen has all the boxes checked: overhead coverage, barstools, accordion windows, clean lines, and great design. Serve up a margarita, put on some tunes, and I’m there!
Another simple accordion window provides a pass-through at this indoor/outdoor kitchen. The plants and comfy seating make this look like a great spot to relax.
A modern indoor/outdoor kitchen with bright colors and a tropical vibe brings the cheer to any weekend. When guests tend to congregate in the kitchen while the host finishes cooking, a bar that oversees the activity helps foster conversation while preventing too many bodies in the kitchen.
This masterful modern extension to a victorian home in Australia includes awning windows at the indoor/outdoor kitchen. Click the picture to see more from Techne Studio, you won’t regret it.
Another great indoor/outdoor kitchen setup courtesy of awning windows and a simple bar counter extension. It even looks like they have margaritas ready to go?! One sec, I’ll be there soon.
This modern and bright kitchen extension is paired with an open pergola and a pool in the distance. It’s like the weekend is welcoming you every day in this backyard.
