Inspiration #49

Sometimes a sink is just a sink. But sometimes it’s a breath of fresh air, making you eager to start the day. Sometimes…a modern sink design can make all the difference. How to treat the sink was a big deal, and ended up being the biggest change during design for #L2HQ. Let’s look at some inspiration images of modern sinks that influenced the master bathroom outcome!

This is the latest in a weekly post of residential architecture inspiration. If you want to see past weeks, you can go here. If you want to see them curated on my pinterest (sometimes before they even hit the blog), go here.

Playful. Bright. Soft lines. This modern sink design by Doherty Design checks all the right boxes for a great layout and use of materials to make the early morning alarms more bearable.

I’ve featured this bathroom from Northbourne previously, but it’s time to take a look at the modern sink instead of the previously mentioned shower. The simplicity of the modern sink in this design is given space to shine due to all of the mirrored cabinets removing a need for a full vanity of cabinets or drawers. The sleek lines keep the sink feeling light and give it an ability to float against the upturned tile.

Another hexagonal mosaic tile backsplash to complement this modern sink. This design’s use of material and color creates a tranquil, spa feel that I can only imagine makes for a wonderful oasis after a stressful work day.

Not floating like the others, but this mid-century modern sink makes use of a dresser or credenza to give flair to this bathroom vanity. Single, offset tapware give space for both washing and prep without cluttering the design.

Also a firm that has been featured previously, Dalecki creates a mix of old and new with this modern sink design in a century-old Australian home. By keeping the sink bare bones, they create space for the historic bones of the structure itself to take center attention. (Fireplace in the bathroom, anyone?)

This last modern sink inspiration shot from Contemporist is certainly not the least. If any of you have seen my #L2HQ renovation image on Instagram, you’ll know I went with a wavy tile myself, and seeing pictures like this reinforced the thought that I could pull off the idea I had in mind. Although, I’d like to think mine turned out better ;).
